Darkness thwarts finalists but not without excitement!

The last few holes of the Cyprus Senior Amateur Men’s Open were hotly contested with any one of three players in the hunt.
After day one, Robin Carson from UK led the field by three shots, with several others in close pursuit. The leaders on day two, being out last, experienced a very strong wind, but still managed to produce very creditable scores. At the end of the final round two players were tied – Robin Carson and last year’s winner from Lebanon, Rachid Akl.  Three holes of ‘sudden death’ later the scores were still tied, but darkness had fallen to such an extent that no further play was possible. It was agreed by the Tournament Committee and both players that the fairest result was to declare both players as Joint Winners.
Kimmo Vihanto from Finland finished third overall, only one shot behind the Joint Winners. George Swanson of host Club Elea won the prize for Mens’ Super Senior.

Prizes were presented by Maro Kazepi , Golf Coordinator for Cyprus Tourist Organisation.
